Spiritual Lessons From Paramahansa Yogananda: Experiences of a Devoted Disciple, Part 1
Spiritual teacher and author Roy Eugene Davis, one of the last living direct disciples of Paramahansa Yogananda, has been sharing the teachings of Kriya yoga for more than 65 years. Join us as Mr. Davis shares stories and teachings of this great sage who came to the United States in 1920 and changed the way many in the west see and experience God. In this program we are focusing on his book, Paramahansa Yogananda As I Knew Him: The Revised Second Edition. This program was recorded just a few weeks before Mr. Davis made his transition from this earthly realm.
Roy Eugene Davis met Paramahansa Yogananda in 1949 and was accepted as Yogananda’s disciple at the young age of 18 years old. After two years of personal training Yogananda instructed him to “Teach as I have taught, heal as I have healed, and initiate sincere seekers in Kriya Yoga.” For the next 68 years Mr. Davis followed his guru’s wishes, selflessly sharing guidelines for effective living and rapid spiritual growth with hundreds of thousands around the world. A prolific writer, Mr. Davis wrote and published his Truth Journal Magazine for 52 years, and it will continue to be offered with his writings far into the future. He is the author of more than 50 books in English, many of which have been translated into 11 languages. His books include commentaries on the spiritual classics The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, The Bhagavad Gita, and Shankara’s treatise on Self Knowledge. In 1972 he founded Center for Spiritual Awareness (CSA) as his ministry headquarters and retreat facility. Situated on 11 acres in the natural beauty of northeast Georgia. CSA continues to offer classes and retreats with ordained ministers and long time disciples of Mr. Davis.
